Black Tea
Three Iced Black Tea Recipes

🍋 Classic Lemon Iced Black Tea (Most Flavorful)
This method first stir-fries the black tea and sugar together to create a caramelized aroma, resulting in a richer flavor that tastes just like the ones sold in stores.
Ingredients:
Black tea leaves: about 30g (or 4–5 tea bags)
- Rock sugar / white sugar: 50–100g (adjust to taste)
- Lemons: 1–2
- Water: about 1–1.5 liters
- Instructions:
Caramelize the tea and sugar: Heat a dry pot over low heat. Add the black tea leaves and sugar, and stir-fry slowly until the sugar melts and turns into a caramel color, releasing a fragrant tea aroma.
Brew the tea: Pour in boiling water, turn up the heat to bring to a boil, then reduce to low heat and simmer for about 10 minutes to fully extract the tea flavor.
Strain: Use a fine strainer to remove the tea leaves, leaving only the tea liquid. Set aside to cool naturally.
Prepare the lemons: Rub the lemons with salt to clean the skin, then rinse and slice them. Be sure to remove all the seeds, as they will make the tea bitter.
Mix: Once the tea has cooled to room temperature, add the lemon slices. Taste and add more sugar if needed, stirring until dissolved.
Chill: Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours for best flavor. Serve over ice cubes.
⚡️ Quick Syrup Version (Ready Anytime)
This method involves preparing a batch of "lemon syrup" in advance. Whenever you crave iced black tea, just mix it up in seconds — super convenient. The lemon juice also helps preserve the syrup.
Ingredients (for the syrup):
White sugar or rock sugar: 250g
- Lemon juice: about 50g (juice from about 1 lemon)
- Water: 200g
- Instructions:
Combine sugar and water in a pot and stir well.
Add the lemon juice, bring to a boil over high heat, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking to the bottom.
Reduce to low heat and simmer until the syrup turns a golden-amber color. Turn off the heat, let it cool, and store in a clean sealed jar.
When ready to serve, place black tea, lemon slices, and ice cubes in a glass, add two spoonfuls of the homemade syrup, and top with cold water or sparkling water. Stir and enjoy.
🥛 Iced Milk Black Tea (Smooth and Not Bitter)
If you're not a fan of lemon's tartness, try this version. It freezes black tea into ice cubes and adds them to milk — as the cubes melt, they won't dilute the milk, resulting in a silky smooth texture.
Ingredients:
Black tea bag: 1
Boiling water: 200ml (for brewing)
Milk: 250ml
- Sweetened condensed milk or sugar: to taste (for extra flavor)
- Instructions:
Brew the tea bag in boiling water for about 5 minutes. Remove the tea bag and let the tea cool to room temperature.
Pour the cooled tea into an ice cube tray and freeze until solid.
In a glass, pour in the milk and add condensed milk or sugar to taste. Stir well.
Finally, drop the frozen black tea ice cubes into the milk. As the cubes melt, you'll get a perfectly chilled milk tea.
💡 Pro Tips for Better Iced Tea:
Remove bitterness: For any recipe that uses lemons, be sure to remove all the seeds — this is the key to avoiding a bitter taste.
Hot vs. cold: If you're making the traditional brewed version, always let the tea cool completely (or chill it) before adding the lemons. Adding lemons to hot tea can release bitterness.
Adjust sweetness: Cold drinks dull our perception of sweetness, so it's best to make the tea slightly sweeter than you think you need — it will taste just right once chilled and iced.
